Home renovations – chapter 1

My wife and I do not spend money on anything unless we have to so our resources go on the normal basics, the occasional meal out, entertainment if we feel like it and the dreaded council tax which gets bigger every year. We do not however pay huge amounts for mortgages or rents. Today, the renovation that we had been talking about for a year or so has come about. We have replaced the dreadful...

The mighty IKEA

Off to Bristol on our occasional / once a year trip to sample IKEA city where everything is on a vast scale. They must make a ton of money each day if you look at the 100 deep queues (lines in USA) of the customers. At 10am sharp today Sunday the people streamed in for cheap breakfasts (£2.65 for full breakfast but extra for toast, and £1 for coffee). Thank goodness we arrived early - at 9.50 am...

We celebrated in the morning by picking raspberries in our allotment and then buying a particularly generous portion of salmon which we had with scrambled egg for breakfast. Normally I get inspiration as to 'where to go' but neither myself or Françoise had...
