Interview vs Interogation

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I am sick of seeing interviewees on television scarcely being allowed to finish a sentence before the person who is doing the interview interrupts them and in many cases contradicts them. Let’s get some definitions here.

The word interview comes from inter –  between and vides – to see. In other words both parties ‘see’ and hopefully respect  each other. There is no indication of lack of parity.

The word interrogation is an entirely different ball game. One person is normally superior over the other and will ask them the question or questioning or it could be a judicial inquiry or a request to justify a certain action.. The inter part is obvious meaning between plus the latin rogary, to ask a question. The root of this verb is reg- which is to move in a straight line.

Valid interruptions

I’m not saying all interruptions are unprofessional. Sometimes a speaker goes off topic, contradicts themselves, or simply fails to address the point made by the interviewer in which case ‘ bringing the court to order’ it’s a valid approach

I notice that interviewers particularly on the television move from one modality to another without even noticing. This is where the most violations occur when a person doesn’t get the chance to make a point because halfway through, the interviewer has thought of something else to say, even their own view which may be superior or more all embracing than the view of the interviewee.

For the most part we never find out because the interviewee is inevitably cut short and also cut short by saying’ I’m afraid we have run out of time’ or ‘ I’m afraid to  have to leave it there’.

As for people with dissenting opinions or we could say people have integrity who stick to the the facts such as UK MP Andrew Bridgen, they get short thrift from the media if they even mention certain topics and very great courage and a strong personality (or is it faith) is required to sustain the abuse that is received.

J K Rowling who speaks up for traditional values and attacks this ridiculous nonsense about having seven sexes as opposed to the two God given sexes, she gets attacked and called  all sorts of nasty names so I’m afraid it’s parr for the course.

As for others who dare to stand praying silently within a zone can be arrested. They are almost at risk of ending up in prison. Anyone would think we are  in a police state.  Surely they wouldn’t do that would be?

Doing nothing day part 2

In a continuation of my do nothing day, se yesterdays entry,  I went a long to my allotment and built a trellis to support runner beans.  We went along to Wickes to buy a six-foot by six foot trellis and the cost was £35. Unfortunately one of the struts was damaged so fortunately for us we were offered 50% off.

Instead of rushing around and doing the gel quickly I decided to do it very slowly and thoughtfully so took twice or three times that which a professional person would take but I enjoyed it and spent time talking to other plot holders.

I like this idea of slowing down.

And now

A dystopian message from the Health Ranger, We can now see how WESTERN CIVILIZATION RAPIDLY COLLAPSES

We would love to hear from you...
