The best way to start a day

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The BBC does have its benefits and high quality music on Radio 3 is one of them so I decided to start my day mainly because I could not sleep anymore with good old classical music. I have said before and I’ll say it again that early morning is the best time to function creatively. I keep a notebook by me and make a note of all the things that has to be done during the day and as I write this at 10:45 I’ve done half of them already and I’ve thought of more to do.

I’ve been pondering for some time now about the way to address people on important subjects. Francoise met someone at a recent meeting with whom she had a lot in common in terms of attitude to health and Francoise offered to invite her round to coffee which she duly did and strangely, no response, I wonder what suffering the person has gone through because she initially agreed that it would be a good idea.

Has this person been disappointed so many times that she’s just given up although she’s putting on an appearance. I wonder who has not been damaged by the exigencies of this life and whether we should treat everyone as having been damaged or suffering in some way although they may be covering it up with a happy smile. I’m not being disrespectful to anyone but I need to address people appropriately.

Scarifying – what is it?

Today was my second real gardening day of the year and strangely when the weather beckons as it did today the desire to go out and be in nature is irresistible. I devoted sometime to clearing a bed in the back garden and then went to an old client and did some scarifying of her lawn which I don’t think had been done for 10 years.

Scarifying is to make scratches or small cuts in (something, such as the skin) 2 : to lacerate the feelings of. 3 : to break up, loosen, or roughen the surface of (something, such as a field or road) 4 : to cut or soften the wall of (a hard seed) to hasten germination. So the word is not just about lawns and gardening

With my customer’s lawn there was a good 90% of the area covered by moss which of course hinders the growth of blades of grass. In parts you can hardly see the grass but it has to be done and in six to eight weeks time it should be growing even more vigorously than the first time.

One of the blessings of the internet is that you can get practical advice on virtually anything so here is an article I found that shows you why scarifying is necessary, when to do it and how to revive a lawn after scarifying.

Christian based groups stepping into the frame

Christian groups are really stepping up to the plate and trying to make themselves relevant to people today, not necessarily those who want to go to a place of worship as such. I sign up to all such groups come out I must belong to about 20, and they all send easy to digest material some on a daily basis and someone a weekly basis but they don’t give big lumps of information just a few sentences to start your day right.

Here is an article from crosswalk.com entitled 5 ways phones hurt our spiritual lives. It talks about attention span, losing the ability to shut off, providing never ending distractions from the more important things in life, how we can waste precious time and how  are emotions can be needlessly stirred up. I contrasted this to my way of starting the day this morning which I referred to above. This was glorious broadcast music of the highest order

We would love to hear from you...
