I’ve just come back from staying with my sister in Croydon and in contrast to my last visits which you can read about we stayed at home and only went out for one day. This was partly because Francoise was not able to walk very far due to her twisted knee so we made the best of things and actually it was completely right for me because I could rest from all my labours including writing this diary.
Nubiyan Twist
I saw a poster similar to this one outside the Electric, Brixton which is a late night music venue next to the town hall. It reminds me how other cultures have taken over and established themselves certainly in the music scene. I cannot show the original because photographing through a perspex shield always produces more reflection than image
I’m very impressed with this serious attempt to mitigate loneliness especially amongst the young. The website is thelonelymillion.co.uk and is well worth a look for its courage and straightforwardness
I saw this from the coach passing Hammersmith 30.12.24; there is a very wide poster portraying young local artists. They are mostly of ethnic minority but there are some English type of people there. I find this a very in your face source of encouragement for talented people from other cultures to have a go and see what they can achieve
This is a very relevant appreciation and a carefully aimed piece of publicity in a generation where comparatively young people are getting divorced. There is recognition of and respect for the effect on the family unit particularly the children. However their website is dreadful amateur stuff and I have written to them to persuade then to get a decent design. It is so bad I would even pay a couple of hundred quid as a donation to improve it. Any 18 year old could do better. PLEASE, Amicable, remember that first impressions count.
This is a very ambitious attempt to portray the fact that people have difficulty communicating certain types of topic. I don’t know how effective it will be and it seems like a have a go effort but it is certainly a step in the right direction
We saw this on the Croydon tram, two quite hefty fellows carrying around this enormous bear or bears obviously as a present to someone. They were trying to look as if they weren’t carrying them at all. In London you can virtually do anything; people will either ignore you or let you be or smile. Every time I go to London I enjoy the ethnic diversity. Different races are so polite and get on with each other
This is another brilliant one to encourage the youngsters. Well done the advertising agency that did this so youngsters can picture themselves in a positive situation and be proud of their ambitions
As I have said many times before, there is only one Brixton Market and a profusion of unusual vegetables from around the world has to be seen to be believed. Well done the local council for encouraging them
Again we saw this on the tram from adding to West Croydon and this mother was so loving and positive to her child and encouraging all sorts of free actions in the child and no mobile phone to be seen. This was quality stuff and I told her so. As you know, I make a habit of speaking to complete strangers.
i have never seen such a junta-position . Wikipedia – education – meet up
I will take a wild guess and assume this is a heavy metal band from Switzerland. Well, it takes all sorts….
A sad remnant of something that was a bike which is had everything stripable removed from it. This was situated adjacent to Brixton Town Hall
Intelligence test of the day. What happened? The tree that fell down was so firmly jammed that workers decided to make an artwork of it and cut off the branch left and right. I saw this in Selsdon wood
