The Escaping Poly tunnel
I have had an interesting day today Sunday. What a wind! Our carefully installed poly tunnel just disappeared and plonked itself in the next garden. We had two retrieve it by throwing it back over the fence and that in rain and wind. Thank goodness the neighbor was understanding.
What seems to happen is that the wind gets under the material and turns it into a huge umbrella so never mind Mary Poppins and her famous umbrella meme, nature shows her full strength.
I have for you my dear readers two contrasting subjects
FORCE
The use of the word force is something that I have not examined during my time on this planet this time around as I thought it was self-evident but actually once you come to think of it it does bear some considerable examination. I think the word is regularly abused and misused being a genetic cover-up for a number of different types of expression. Igor Stravinsky said ‘what force is more potent than love? Love is a force that has the ability to overcome any obstacle, meant broken hearts and inspire acts of kindness and selflessness. It transcends individuality.
We are more used to using the term ‘force’ as a negative or destructive descriptor. If I am thrown back by the force of an explosion it is not personal, it is just a feature of interactions in this physical universe. Here for follows some examples of force used in the wrong way. I can be coerced or under a compulsion to do something against my will. I can force my way into a bank by breaking open the door. Someone can be forced into early retirement due to a combination of circumstances. Of course, energy is involved. Does a vigorous public presentation of an idea have force?
I would say that it has potency and vitality and the person giving it possibly has charisma. Is that forceful? Not in the sense that we are used to. The splendid speech could induce a voluntary alignment. Are we allowing be thought forms or vibrations of the individual to allow our mindset to be realigned? Is this a bit like the force of gravity?
This is the opposite of brute force where the uniqueness and predilections of the audience is ignored. You could say that this pertains in concentration camps. So if we define energy as a change in state of the auric field then whatever we do or do not do must affect others but more an affect on the neocortex than the primitive reptile brain.
Human beings have a certain tendency to imitate others. The Christian Gospel speaks about leading by example which implies that the ability to change behavior of beliefs accrues over a period of time without even a suggestion that behavior of the listener should be changed. We need to explore the effect of consciousness on relationships.
We have a simple choice in life, to act in such a way as to bring people together, or to drive people apart and alienate other people from their own true nature. You cannot do ‘nothing’ because in a way that is doing something. Lack of activity or silence can condemn us. Orientation to oneness is the only criteria in my book anyway
I have only scratched the surface of this topic but I think it is worth a serious revisit so I will be doing that in the times to come.
CHINESE MADE GOODS
Over time I had bought a number of items from China. The first one I remember was a solar panel that claimed to produce 4,000 Watts. The instructions were impossible to read and I never got round to constructing the kit in the first place. 40 pounds down the drain. My fault for not checking that such an output was impossible for the price.
I was offered an electric bike for 550 pounds. The shipping cost was 47 pounds which should have given a clue as to its origins. I never got round to ordering one but a bike is only as good as its service and if a maintenance person cannot get hold of the parts or has to write off to some foreign country for them they will not even touch the bike. Returning the item is impossibly unfriendly and long-winded.
I bought a torch for 12 pounds. No, I tell a lie, it was a buy one get one free. I soon found out why. It does indeed give extraordinary amounts of light but only for 20 minutes as the chargeable battery is minute. So you gaily strut around shining your light into dark corners and suddenly it is no longer.
I also bought a clock via Amazon for £6.95. It was a bedside alarm clock, batteries not supplied. I set it up and went to bed and during the night I heard the sound of what I thought was rain. In fact this so called silent clock was making little whirring and popping noises. I can only guess it was due to lack of quality or construction.
I also bought a battery for my mobile. It is however, sold with a trade name of Bettery. Who knows what lies beneath the casing.
Temu is a Chinese company with huge world sales (Estimated $54 billion in 2024) because the prices are ridiculously cheap. I don’t know how they do it but they seem to make money.
I would not buy any more electrical goods i.e. Items that might go wrong but I would buy items like shirts or carpets or ornaments which are the “what you see is what you get” category.
I am reminded of the phrase, buy cheap, buy twice. One of these days I will learn. That day has not quite dawned.
