We might as well say ‘the person who walks alone’. Great message in this troubled age. This is a very heartwarming and encouraging rendering which should stir the spirit of any sentient person. The writer has a finger on the pulse of humanity with all its strengths and weaknesses. His work is almost poetry.
Here is another one. ‘For when you think too much’. Are problems illusory? Situations that look like problems are not problems at all.
By ‘coincidence’ I had correspondence by SMS with a women friend who had had difficulties in getting support with her daughter. I sent here the video above, the person who walks alone’ which I hope she found comforting.
Booking tickets for Christmas Travel
Today, I booked our transport tickets for going to London. The cheapest train journey was 95 pounds for the two of us which is not so bad. You can take a slow train from Bath to London but there are many stops and is it worth it? For those of you that have to book tickets it really is worth shopping around when coach travel or trains are concerned. For example if I wanted to go by National Express from Bath it would have been 110 pounds yes really. I chose to go from Bristol instead paying 50 pounds for the two of us. Warning – same day coach travel attracts a premium.
This is because Bath has been demoted from a main hub and also there is no competition from other companies. The cheapest was Flix where I could have two people returning £49.46. Strangely, Megabus did not even have scheduled availability for the Christmas period and we are getting on now in November.
So, with trains, don’t forget that there are frequently repairs going on over the holiday period. There are so many fare levels on trains it just frazzles my head.
* The most expensive is turn up and pay on the day (you can use your travel card)
* second is to book on the internet not forgetting rail cards which take 33% of the price
* there are split ticketing services where you can spend a few pounds but don’t expect too much from this service
* as I said above you can save a few pounds by doing a slower route but again the possibilities are very limited.
Christmas is the time when travel companies make their money so the normal single fare from Bristol to London can be £5 or so but you are paying a premium over the holiday. After the New Year things settle back to normal. Drivers to London – don’t forget that the £12.50 charge applies to anything that lives or breathes. I know there is massive non-compliance but even so who wants to get a brown envelope in the post with demands for money.
With the decent transport system unless you have to bring heavy items or can park in roads that are not subject to parking restrictions, (good luck with that one), your better off not taking a car within the M25. Thank you Sadiq Khan.
