The start of my 9th Decade

After the guests have gone, the helium filled balloons are still hanging around in my living room even after a week

It is slowly dawning on me that I’m into my ninth decade of life in this particular cycle. This morning, I went to trim a hedge in the locality and I earned enough money to fill my car with the next load of overpriced petrol.  I have to decide whether I’m going to continue with my gardening this year. My tools are showing their age and I have had my garden blower for 14 years and it refused to start so instead of spending £50 having it serviced I decided to buy a new electric blower vacuum for £30

I have no obligations this week except to do a podcast with someone on Thursday and on the same day attend the summer solstice in  Glastonbury. These occasions are always joyous because people dress up and are in a really good mood, humor and celebration is the order of the day. After lunch I decided to go to bed. People do not normally go to bed on a sunny afternoon but I decided to. Just like that.

About age, I met someone three weeks ago who was 97 and spirited as anything and on my holiday I met a lady who was going to be 80 in the next week and was proud of it. I think that what keeps us going is the spirit, drive and purpose in life and our bodily cells will dutifully follow.

We have to remember that after a certain age body does not generate all that is needed for self a preservation so we may need to have some supplements to our food and certainly pay attention to what is being forced into us by advertising, which may not have any nutritional value at all.
