Liberties Regent Street has a long tradition of supplying materials for dressmaking and clothes in general. Francoise had not visited it for over 25 years so we decided that now was the time. I saw a very nice gentleman’s jacket for 850 pounds and a delightful tape measure for 15 pounds. They are used to dealing with the rich and famous.
The decor and layout could be that of an Elizabethan theatre with balconies and so on. The numerous staff were obviously well trained and used to deal with people where money is no object. As mere casual visitors of a different class we were subtly tolerated but I don’t think anyone expected anything grand from us.
Our main appointment for the day was with an old friend who had never been to Battersea Power Station in its new form so we arranged to meet her at the specially built Northern tube line extension.
Someone somewhere did an amazing selling job because all the high end chains and brands are there. On this day, Tuesday, there were only have handful of people walking around and I’m not sure whether this attraction has caught the attention of Londoners because I saw more people from the middle and Far East then I did English people. Again, pictures speak louder than words so here are a few images, and I really would recommend a visit. The sheer size and scale will amaze you even if you don’t buy anything.
As you can see, this is the same picture about taken from two angles. The bottom one is less boring but does draw the attention away from the bronze figures. I prefer them both for different reasons.
On the subway on the way out we saw the following adverts. I don’t think it Tina Turner will ever be forgotten
My sister had ordered a pre birthday cake in preparation for my 80th birthday which is in June. She presented it to me in the evening and we all had a nibble.
